Team Humanity at Verticals is a Brownsville, PA initiative equipping youth with the skills to earn, lead, and build careers close to home. At Verticals Makerspace, students learn by doing—turning ideas into prototypes, projects into products, and skills into income.

What We Do

• Entrepreneurship: Idea → prototype → pitch. Youth practice customer discovery, pricing, basic bookkeeping, and marketing—ending with a public showcase or micro-grant opportunity.

• Workforce & Shop Skills: Safety, quality, and production fundamentals through real assignments (apparel/print, fabrication, event ops) so students can step into paid roles.

• Robotics & Emerging Tech: Coding, CAD, 3D printing, electronics, and robotics—from design to test drive—building problem-solving and technical fluency.

How It Works

• Hands-on learning in small groups (clear goals, tools out on the table, mentors at their elbow).

• Mentorship from instructors, local makers, and pro athletes who model discipline, teamwork, and resilience.

• Real-world application through capstones, showcases, and paid shifts where possible.

Who We Serve

Youth from underserved communities across Fayette County and the region, with priority for first-gen and low-income students. No experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to try.

Access & Inclusion

We lower barriers with free or low-cost programs, transportation support when available, and a welcoming, safety-first shop culture. Every student belongs in the lab—and on the team.

• Youth complete programs and return for the next level

• Students demonstrate pre/post gains in problem-solving and technical skills

• Participants apply skills in paid work, internships, or competitions

• Families and schools see confidence and leadership grow
